Jimmy's Burlington Adventures: A Dog's Life in the BuddyRider

If you find yourself passing through Burlington, Ontario Canada on a bright afternoon, chances are you'll catch a familiar scene along Waldoncroft Crescent: John at the wheel of his tractor, and Jimmy — his devoted four-legged co‑pilot — riding tall in the BuddyRider® seat.

"It had been a long day out in the yard," John says with a chuckle, scrolling through a handful of snapshots. "Sorry I look a bit rough in some of them." Rough or not, the photos speak for themselves: Jimmy settled comfortably in his seat, ears up, clearly in his element.

John is quick to point out that Jimmy isn't picky about his ride. "He loves being in the BuddyRider® whether it's on the bike or the tractor." What began as a practical fix has turned into a cherished daily routine. With Jimmy's vision fading, keeping him safely buckled in the seat beats having him trail along behind the tractor. "Honestly, it's safer for both of us this way."

These days John has just the one dog, but he still keeps two BuddyRider® setups — one mounted on his bike at home in Burlington, and another up at the cottage on the tractor. "I haven't picked up a second receiver yet, but I might get around to it this summer," he says. "It's not urgent, but having one ready in each spot just makes things simpler."

The neighbours have taken notice, too. "They get a real kick out of seeing Jimmy cruise past on the tractor like he's running the show." It's become something of a local tradition — the Burlington duo making their rounds, one driving and one keeping a watchful eye on things.

John is always keen to hear what's new. "Feel free to let me know about any updates or new designs. If there's a new seat in the works, Jimmy and I would be happy to put it through its paces on the tractor and send along some photos."

From busy workdays to relaxed cottage weekends, from bikes to tractors, Jimmy's adventures in the BuddyRider® have woven themselves into the everyday fabric of life in Burlington, Ontario.
